Last Saturday I spent an hour or so ripping stuff out of my square foot garden. Not everything, because my tomatoes are still coming in, but a lot of other stuff. You see, I am revamping my garden for next year (am I repeating myself? So be it.) and there is no time like the present to get started on that. Especially because it is going to be an epic revamping. I'm so glad we got an extra garbage bin this year.
As part of my revamping process, I am planning on my garden for next year. Now that I have the 23qt Pressure Canner, no vegetable is safe. That being said, I try to grow organically as much as possible. I don't put pesticides on my veggies, but I do put miracle grow occasionally through the summer. Having had moderate success in my square foot garden, I am planning on really expanding, which will require creativity with my sprinkler system as well as placement.
My next step is to figure out a composter that will work for us. I would like to be able to mix it in with some awesome manure and create a really rich soil. Plus, it would be nice to not throw so much away and instead use it! I'm trying to teach my kids a little bit about sustainable living.
Yay for Square Foot Gardening! Mel is the *bomb*! ;)
