Clarification

Just for clarification, I am writing all of these things primarily for myself.  I am a storyteller by nature and genetics, and I want to tell this story about my process to choosing a plant-based diet.  Some of what I share, I share because it is my experience.  Other stuff I share, I share because I find it thought-provoking and interesting.  The only thing I strongly advocate is that if you are in poor health, do the research and decide what makes sense for you.  I choose not to eat animal meat or animal based foods at this time largely because of the way it is grown and processed, and because I have felt 100% better NOT eating it than I have, well, ever in my life.  If you choose to eat all of these foods and you feel good, great!  If I am ever in a famine and don't have other options, I will evaluate my eating at that time.  Eating a plant based diet has helped me to have energy, sleep better, and I have lost weight that I absolutely need to lose.  Following high protein animal diets caused me to feel shaky and cranky.

If what I write bugs you, feel free to stop reading.  You won't hurt my feelings.  If what I write resonates with you, then I still advocate that you do your own reading, research, and pray about what you find and how it pertains to you.  Believe me, there was a time I thought my cousin was nutty because she decided to stop eating meat (sorry, you know who you are) and now I embrace it and wish I had listened more to what she had to say.  Unfortunately, because she has gotten so much grief about how she eats, I suspect she keeps her thoughts mostly to herself about it now.  I am sure that there are many people in my life who wish I would do the same, or feel I am making a fool out of myself by being vocal about the changes I am making in my life.  I can live with that.

At least you don't have to listen to me ramble on about politics.

  1. Q. Do vegetarians eat animal crackers?

    A. Well I don't if they contain corn, soy or gluten. ;)

I love that you share your experiences because it helps me to hear about what others are going through as I go through my own veganish journey.

You know, one in four women in the United States will die from heart disease. I am so glad that you are doing what you need to in order to grow old with your family, and your friends like me. (((HUGS)))
