Last year I talked about the Four Energy Types - Oracle, Healer, Visionary, and Warrior. I thought it would be interesting to go through the strengths and weaknesses of each of the Energy Types as they pertain to health, fitness, and lifestyle. I'll start with the Oracle.
I am not an Oracle. I just have to clarify that. However, because I am a Visionary/Warrior, I tend to attract Oracles into my life. My husband, Mom, Dad, and Bestie are all Oracles. How did this happen, you ask? Well, both my maternal and paternal Grandmothers were Visionary/Warriors and apparently it skipped a generation.
So take this all with a grain of salt from someone sitting in the "cheap seats". This is based on my observations of how Oracles operate.
Oracle Strengths:
1. See the 'Big Picture' in a system/project
2. Use their keen awareness to communicate truth
3. Express critical observations with clarity and tactfulness
4. Like a mirror to others so that they can "see" themselves
5. Easily stay on track & have a keen focus
Oracle Weaknesses:
1. Overly critical of themselves and others
2. Can only see the problems & mistakes in everything
3. Build walls to keep others out and will appear self-righteous (when it is more likely that they are shy)
4. Can become obsessive/compulsive
5. Focus too much on perfecting details at the cost of then missing the 'Big Picture'.
Having worked out regularly with an Oracle, and by regularly I mean six days a week for the past six weeks, I can tell you that it doesn't much matter WHAT workout program they do, they will do it to perfection. The exception is if they have a Visionary/Warrior changing things up on them. Instead of mapping out a very specific program for my bestie, I have gone week by week and just let her believe it is mostly based on the calendar. Which it mostly is.
What I have discovered about the Strengths and Weaknesses of each energy type is that if you are primarily one (Visionary for me) and secondarily another (Warrior for me) then you tend to show strengths in your primary and weaknesses in your secondary. This is very true for me. So for my bestie, whose secondary energy is a Healer, the Oracle strengths ARE her strengths. I will expand on that when I go over Healer. Anyway, my recommendations for an Oracle workout are:
Turbo Fire or Turbo Jam - Oracles are not high-energy people, but Turbo Fire gives them a high energy workout and allows them to get aggression out that is often pent up without an adequate way to express it. It is also good because it will typically get them out of their comfort zone and make them try new things.
Les Mills PUMP - Because it is SO methodical and exact form is required, it appeals to the Oracle. My bestie actually wants to COUNT the number of squats/lunges, etc. that we do. I know - weird. It also is very system oriented, which is ideal for Oracles. It also appeals to someone who is OCD because you never have to worry about one side of the body being worked out and the instructor missing the other side (i.e. many Tae Bo DVDs).
In general, because Beachbody programs take the guess work out of it, meaning, they give you a schedule to follow, an eating plan, online support groups, and everything else you need to stay on track, they are perfect for an Oracle.
