Plant Based Milk

I am not a huge milk drinker by any stretch of the imagination.  I rarely eat cereal anymore, so my milk consumption is usually in conjunction with my Shakeology.  That being said, I haven't had cow's milk for at least a year now and love a few things about it.  

1.  It is one small thing I can do for dairy cows.  They are treated terribly.
2.  I don't have to worry about hormones.
3.  They last way longer than regular milk in the fridge.  If we go out of town I don't have to stress about leaving milk behind.
4.  I can make almond milk with my vitamix, water, and raw almonds.
5.  No cholesterol.

Today I read this article about the Nutritional Comparison of Soy Milk vs. Cow's Milk.  I don't typically drink soy milk, instead sticking to almond or coconut milk, but I was amazed at the difference.  Especially in the sugar content.  My son rarely drinks plant-based milk, but my daughter has it on her cereal so I love the lower amount. 

The coconut milk is fantastic with Shakeology and makes it really creamy.  I like the So Delicious brand because they also make coconut milk based ice cream and other products that are all dairy free.
