Gratitude Journal: January 2, 2013

I actually remember wanting to be a Lawyer.  In the past year I have been a teacher and a writer.  In fact, I am guessing that those two occupations aren't going away anytime soon.  After seeing Les Mis last night I have no desire to be an actress.  I will leave that to the experts.  Not that it stops me from singing Empty Chairs at Empty Tables under my breath as I fold laundry.  So what do I get to be now?  Isn't it great that I have the option of choosing.  Isn't it fantastic that I don't live in 19th Century France?

1 - I am grateful for my son and my daughter.  As I watched Les Mis I could relate to when Jean Valjean was singing about Cosette and saying, "She was never mine to give."  Or when he sang "Bring Him Home".  I have my children for but a moment and I realize that the plan God has for them will always be revealed in bits and pieces to me.

2 - I am grateful for good books that teach life lessons.

3 - I am grateful that Les Miserables by Victor Hugo is free for my kindle.  I hear it is life-changing.
