One Month Stats from Les Mills PUMP

Read to the end, leave a comment, and if your name is drawn I will send you a chocolate Shakeology sample!

I have now been doing my hybrid Turbofire and Les Mills PUMP schedule for one month.  I am proud to say that I did not miss one single workout in January.  Not one.  I took Sunday as my rest day and otherwise I did not deviate.  I wish I could say the same about nutrition because I wanted to stick to the Eat to Live eating plan, but after a week I realized that it was unrealistic for me to eat only one serving of grains with the intensity of my workouts.  So I mostly stick to Eat to Live and have dramatically reduced my oil intake and shifted eating nutrient dense fats like avocado, nuts and seeds.  Apparently that is working for me.

My goal was to lose an average of 2 lbs per week and I achieved that goal!  During the month of January I lost 9 lbs and 9 inches - one inch off of each thigh and each upper arm, THREE inches off of my waist, and TWO inches off of my hips.  Apparently my regimen favors burning fat in the areas that I need it the most.  Score!

And now it is February 1st and I have a new set of goals.  I would like to continue to average a loss of 2 lbs per week, and it would be fantastic to lose another 8 inches.

Yesterday brought a new dvd in the Les Mills PUMP schedule.  A brutal and challenging workout called Pump and Shred.  When it was done my muscles were shaking, I was dripping with sweat, the thought of walking up the stairs made me want to cry, and I knew I would wake up this morning aching.  Nope!  The brilliance of Les Mills PUMP is that by following the program I have gradually strengthened large muscles and the supporting muscles around them so that I can absolutely fatigue the muscle, but my body doesn't punish me with soreness.  Happiness!  Especially since I have to do Pump and Shred on Saturday.

What I love the most is that these results are fantastic, however, the switch that has flipped in my head about food, health, and fitness is priceless for me.  The changes I have seen in my friends who are taking this journey with me give me energy when I wake up in the morning.  I have them in my head when I write and do research.  I think of their individual challenges and problems and how we can work together to overcome them.  I love love love the neighborhood Health and Fitness Club that we have created and the support that it has given me.  I feel like I have found my passion, and that is the best gift that 2012 has given me so far.

I am also very very grateful to Dave Totten for putting up with my craziness, Loree Rominger for being a guinea pig, my kids for going to bed early on Wednesday nights, and for all of the women and men who have told me that what I am doing is making a difference.

Leave a comment and I will do a random drawing for a chocolate Shakeology sample!

Heidi has turned my health around.  6 months ago, I was 30 pounds heavier, a sugar and soda addict, I never exercised and I fed myself and my family processed foods. I now start my day with a green smoothie, which my kids will drink with me, exercise following the beach body programs at least 3 times a week, and use essential oils almost every day.  I am much happier and healthier and so are my children.  I owe all of this to Heidi.
