How to Homeschool for Cheap or Internet Gratitude

Every few hours or so I have a moment of panic.  What?  I'm homeschooling?  WHAT?  And then I How to Homeschool for Cheap and remember that people have gone before me.  And succeeded.  The internet is a treasure trove of information.  For example, music appreciation.  Google Elementary Music and voila!  Printables about all of the different composers.  Printables on the different instruments and what family they are in.  We can learn all of this and then go to a music store and try them out.  Brilliant.

Or you can call your neighbor, Mindy Taylor, who majored in music and has an absolutely amazing voice and ask her what to do.  Because she will bring you a book called Those Amazing Musical Instruments to try out, and then she will email you her favorite 50 classical pieces of music.  Then you will download it and listen to Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings and suddenly you have all sorts of ideas about how to teach your children about Classical music because of YouTube.  Because you can watch different orchestras and talk about the different sounds the instruments make.  Suddenly I have a whole music program because of the internet.  And I can teach them about 9/11 at the same time and how the music makes them feel.  Powerful stuff music is, don't you agree?
