My Sister Says I Need a New Obsession

Today I told my sister that I have a new obsession.  She said, "Ha.  Good, you needed one."  Which is sort of funny because I think she thinks I am always obsessed.

A couple of months ago when my bestie and her family moved in, we decided it would be way easier to shop and cook together for 9 people.  So we started going to Costco every two weeks and splitting the cost and we are all eating way healthier for way less money.  We have also each lost about 10 lbs during that time period.

Except - here was the amusing conversation last night while walking the aisles of Costco (paraphrased):

Me: "Look at this!  Organic sprouted beans!  Let's get them and make salads!"
Bestie: "So you cook those ugly dry things and they turn into those pretty things?  Hmm...mung reminds me of Harry Potter."
Me: "Yeah, like Mundungus."
Me: "Look at how much things have changed over the past two months!  You don't drink diet dr. pepper anymore, you are off sugar...eating healthy?"
Bestie: "I know!  You are the WORST BEST FRIEND EVER!"
Me: "Well, we can go home and do Turbofire and then have popcorn."
Bestie: "Hey - I saw some snacks we could have.  Dried blueberries and cranberries covered in this antioxidant called chocolate."

And so the conversation continued.

So then on the drive home I called my mom and she told me about GOMBS.  I googled it and came up with www.diseaseproof.com.  I read it and started making lists of how I could eat GOMBS.  I also cooked me up some sprouted mung with a green pepper from my garden, a squash from my garden, a couple of tomatoes from my garden, green onions, olive oil, lemon juice, and I topped it off with 1/4th of an avocado today for lunch.  This would make a good salsa.  Anyway.  As part of our experiment, we have been feeding our kids healthy stuff.  Their behavior has improved tremendously.  They rarely ask for sugar.  They throw fewer fits and come out of them faster.  Amazing!  Jamie Oliver was right!

So my new obsession is GOMBS.  That doesn't necessarily mean I will blog about it.  But, I might...
